2010 Futurity Stakes Final Field & Preview

This Saturday Caulfield racecourse will come alive as they host the next great feature meeting of the Melbourne Autumn Carnival. The thrilling raceday is headlined by the $500, 000 Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1600m).

A diminutive but excellent field of six horses will take to the turf in the 2010 Futurity Stakes.

The hot favourite currently at $1.60 with [sportsbet] is Peter Moody?s mighty mare Typhoon Tracy. The four-year-old daughter of Red Ransom is coming off a succession of impressive wins including a last-start win the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes.

Typhoon Tracy will start from barrier six on Saturday with Luke Nolen aboard and has been named as the one to beat by the trainers of her rivals.

Second favourite for the Futurity at $4.60 is Dao Dao in barrier three. The in-form six-year-old gelding is prepared by the powerhouse Hawkes training team and is coming off a second place in the Group 2 Expressway Stakes at Rosehill.

The other highly rated starter is Sniper?s Bullet. Trained by Tracey Bartley the son of Bite The Bullet starts from barrier four on Saturday with star hoop Damien Oliver in the mount. Sniper?s Bullet, a multiple Group 1 victor, is currently at odds of $6.

The Gai Waterhouse-trained Joku ($12), Lord Tavistock ($17) and Danny O?Brien?s Barbaricus ($121) are the other three hopefuls starting from barriers one, five and two respectively.

The other major drawcard of the day will be the $180, 000 Group 2 Caulfield Autumn Classic (The Yalumba 161), which will run as race eight at 4:55pm. Currently Extra Zero and Take The Rap share favouritism for The Yalumba at $3.80.

The 2010 Rokk Ebony Futurity Stakes is scheduled as the seventh race of the meeting?s great nine-event card and is due to commence at 4:15pm.
