2016 Melbourne Cup Day fields for the nine Flemington races ing the ‘race that stops a nation’ on Tuesday, November 1, along with Flemington odds across the Cup Day card are listed below.

Melbourne Cup Day is the second of the four major meetings making up the annual Melbourne Cup Carnival at the iconic Flemington Racecourse.

Racing is headlined by the world’s richest handicap – the $6.2 million Group 1 Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) running as Flemington Race 7.

The 2016 Melbourne Cup field features 24 stayers and the latest Melbourne Cup odds are led by Hartnell ($5) coming off a Cox Plate third.

It is a top day for punters across the meeting that features a total of 10 races starting with the $150,000 Group 3 Ottawa Stakes (1000m) for two-year-old fillies at 10:40am (AEDT).

Closing the Melbourne Cup Day racing action is the $200,000 Group 3 The Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (1400m) for the mares.

Between the Group race bookends and the Melbourne Cup being run and won at 3:00pm (AEDT), there’s plenty of other betting opportunities for the punters on Cup Day 2016 including a trio of Listed races.
