The punters are coming for the nicely profiled Joliestar to become the first mare to take out the world’s richest turf race with the Chris Waller-trained four-year-old the new favourite in The Everest 2024 betting after coming up trumps with barrier four at Tuesday night’s barrier draw.
The progressive daughter of Zoustar was one of the big winners gate-wise for the now Group 1 $20 million The Everest (1200m) this year with top jockey James McDonald booked for the ride.
He is set to get plenty of favours from barrier four which Redzel won the inaugural edition from back in 2017.
The versatile Joliestar claimed the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) – Group 2 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) interstate double as a filly last season and looks to be going equally as well this season.
Her resuming run saw her put three lengths on her rivals at The Everest track and trip in the Group 3 Show County Quality before a last start third behind fellow The Everest mare Sunshine In Paris in the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes with 58kg at Rosehill.
Back to Randwick and dropping to 56.5kg at weight-for-age, Joliestar is ticking plenty of boxes to hand Waller his third win in the iconic race.

Growing Empire is another out of the Manikato when runner-up to Southport Tycoon at his latest start, before which he won back-to-back black-types in Melbourne.
This will be the toughest test to date for the consistent son of Zoustar and barrier seven for his hoop Kerrin McEvoy, a three-time The Everest winning jockey already, aids his cause.
Bella Nipotina meanwhile cannot be discounted as one of the highest rated performers in the star-studded line-up.
This seven-year-old daughter of Pride Of Dubai is a three-time Group 1 winner and was unlucky not to gain a slot in last year’s race.
She resumed with a close second to her stablemate and the last of Maher’s The Everest contenders, I Am Me, in the lucrative $1 million Concorde Stakes over the sharp 1000m distance before a third in the Group 2 Premiere Stakes that she arguably should have won.
Bella is hitting her stride now, presents in peak form, and even from the outside alley could steal the show especially as a proven wet track performer.
Storm Boy meanwhile has also seen a move into $13 after drawing barrier five for his hoop Brenton Avdulla, a gate that has produced the past two The Everest champions.
