With total prize money of $200,000, the Gold Coast Guineas attracts a strong line-up of three-year-olds that could be Brisbane-bound over the Winter Racing Carnival. The Gold Coast Guineas shares its race card with the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) as well as the Group 3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic (1200m) for two-year-olds.

There was no 2020 A.D. Hollindale Stakes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Gold Coast Guineas field attracts both local Queensland-trained gallopers as well as interstate visitors out of the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival lead-up races. It is a good lead-up into the Group 3 Fred Best Classic (1400m) contested in Brisbane later in the month.

The 2023 Gold Coast Guineas form was franked with the runner-up Lady Laguna going on to run well in a host of events including winning the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes at Randwick in the autumn of 2024.

The 2025 Gold Coast Guineas ran on Saturday May 10, 2025 at the Gold Coast Racecourse and saw Blue Point colt Bosustow ($7.50) win by a barnstorming six lengths for the Neasham/Archibald yard.

  • Each Way: #1 Bosustow ($12 at time of publish) – BET NOW

The in-form Neasham/Archibald stable presents a compelling value runner in Saturday’s Gold Coast Guineas with the return of Bosustow. This talented Blue Point colt boasts strong form, having finished a close second in Group 1 company in New Zealand back in February. Importantly, he’s already a proven winner at this Gold Coast track, having taken out the Magic Millions Guineas. The form out of that New Zealand Group 1 has since been validated, suggesting Bosustow is ready to make his mark back in Australia. While yet to win first-up, he has a dream draw in gate five with Josh Parr aboard and his impressive pedigree suggests he has the class to overcome any slight fitness concerns. Expect him to be running on strongly and offering good each-way value.

2025 Gold Coast Guineas Nominations

The early Gold Coast Guineas Nominations 2025 close on the Monday of race week.

Gold Coast Guineas History

The Gold Coast Guineas was established in 2000, and as such lacks the long illustrious history of many more renowned races. However, it only took until 2008 for the race to be elevated to Group 3 status as a result of increasing prize money and prestige. Today, the Gold Coast Guineas is one of the more highly anticipated races on the Gold Coast racing calendar.

The inaugural running of the race, in 2000, was in March and held over 1400m, as opposed to the current 1200m (2006 onwards). One of the most notable winners of the Gold Coast Guineas is Make Mine Magic, who made the race his sixth straight win, impressive considering the horse had only 6 races under his belt.

Gold Coast Guineas results since the race’s inauguration in 2000 are listed below.

A new track record was set in the 2018 Gold Coast Guineas results by the filly Champagne Cuddles who won in a speedy 1:07.65.

In 2023 and 2024 the Gold Coast Guineas was moved from the Gold Coast Racecourse to the Sunshine Coast Racecourse.

In 2025 Bosustow won the Gold Coast Guineas by six lengths on a Heavy (9) track.
